Born in Warner Robins, Georgia, Lance obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia College. He went on to pursue his legal career, graduating with his Juris Doctorate degree from Georgia State University College of Law. When he began practicing law in 1992, he initially spent a few years working for an insurance defense firm. He left there to become assistant district attorney for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit where he prosecuted cases ranging from speeding violations to homicides in Bartow and Gordon Counties.

Because of his practice in both the private and public sectors, Lance has gained extensive trial court experience and has developed superb litigation skills. He is currently admitted to practice in the Georgia Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Superior Courts, including the municipal, juvenile, and probate courts. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. During his years of practice, he has tried over 200 jury trials, giving him a distinct advantage in the court room.
